It started with abrasive grinding wheels...and fire.
That’s right. When our company was founded over 30 years ago, we produced grinding wheel labels in Buffalo, NY, once a hot-bed for the abrasive industry. On the side of most wheels was a round, die-cut label. When company founder, Thomas Muraca, was looking for alternative products to sell, these coaster-like objects became a natural solution.
A few years later...
Kitty and Karel Elbers were busy making matchbooks and began producing coasters on material imported from Europe in their facility in Ontario, Canada. They eventually moved their facility to Johnson City, TN (where we still manufacture today).
As the microbrewery and casual dining industries exploded in the U.S. in the 80s, coasters became a hot commodity. Before long, beverage coasters were all both companies produced.
So, for nearly three decades...
We operated independently as American Coaster Company in Buffalo, NY and Ad-Mat International Coasters in Johnson City, TN. In 2007, the two companies merged to form American Coaster Ad-Mat and we were then purchased by The KATZ Group. KATZ was eventually acquired by the Koehler Paper Group. This relationship allows us to offer the capabilities you’d expect from a global company, while continuing to deliver the service you’d expect from a partner down the street.
And despite these changes, our goal has not wavered:
“To overwhelm our customers with innovative product solutions and out-of-this-world service!”
As a result, we’ve become the largest manufacturer of beverage coasters in North and South America, as well as leaders in our industry.
But we want you to be the judge.
So go ahead. Give us a call at +1 (800) 844-6287 or contact Katz online if you're ready to try out our beverage coasters.
