Social Distancing Summer Games

With temperatures rising people are naturally going to want to be outside; especially when we have been quarantined. So we decided to help you out by providing a list of summer games you can play with your friends/family while still maintaining a safe distance!

*Obviously it is recommended that you still wear a mask while doing so. If the game requires people to be next to each other it is recommended you take turns to practice safe social distancing*

CORNHOLE – 2 teams of 2, teammates stand on opposite sides.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 21 without going over wins.
  • The same side opponents alternate throwing the bags.
  • Each time you land a bag on the board is +1 point for your team.
  • Points are neutralized if the opponent also lands on the board.
  • Getting the bag through the hole is +3 points.
  • Bags are allowed to be knocked off the board.

WASHER TOSS – 2 teams of 2, teammates stand on opposite sides.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 21 without going over wins.
  • Those on the same side will throw all of their washers before their opponent does.
  • Each time you land a washer in the box is +1 point for your team.
  • Points are neutralized if the opponent also lands in the box/cup.
  • Getting the washer in the cup is +3 points.

HORSESHOES – 2 teams of 2, teammates stand on opposite sides.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 21 without going over wins.
  • Those on the same side will throw all of their horseshoes before their opponent does.
  • If you land your horseshoe around the pole, “A Ringer”, you get +3 points for your team. Ringers can cancel each other out.
  • If no one gets a ringer, the person whose horseshoe was closest to the pole gets +1 point.

BADMINTON – 2 teams, typically 1-2 teammates stand on the same side.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 21 points wins.
  • Players/Teams stand on opposite sides of the net.
  • Can only hit the “shuttle” once per side with a racket to return it over the net.
  • +1 point will be rewarded each time the shuttle lands on the the opponents side and in the field of play.

KAN JAM – 2 teams of 2, teammates stand on opposite sides.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 21 without going over wins.
  • Teammates on opposite sides each throw the frisbee once to complete their turn.
  • When a player taps the frisbee into the kan- +1 point.
  • If the frisbee hits the kan on its own- +2 points.
  • When a player knocks the frisbee down inside the top opening of the kan- +3 points.
  • The game is automatically won if you throw the frisbee through the slot.

BOCCE BALL – 2 teams, teams can consist of 1, 2, or 4 players. Everyone stands at the same point.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 12 or predetermined amount wins.
  • Start with 1 team throwing a smaller ball (Pallino), which alternates each round.
  • Then one player from each team throws their bocce ball to see who is closest to the pallino.
  • The team furthest away throws their remaining balls first.
  • You score +1 point for each bocce ball that is closer to the pallino than the opposing teams balls.

BOTTLE BASH – 2 teams of 2, teammates stand on the same side.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First team to 21 points wins.
  • Alternate rounds of which teammate throws.
  • Object is to hit the pole/bottle with the frisbee and knock the bottle to the ground.
  • If the frisbee touches the ground the team that threw it gets +1 point and +2 points if the bottle hits the ground.
  • The team defending has to try and catch both the bottle and the frisbee to allow no points.

LADDER BALL – 2 teams of 2, teammates stand on opposite sides.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • First to 21 points without going over wins.
  • The same side opponents will alternate throws.
  • Points go in order from highest to lowest on the ladder- +3, +2, +1.
  • The bola (object you throw) must remain on the ladder at the end of the round to score points.
  • The bola can get knocked off the ladder by an opponents throw.
